Anti-Stripping Agents
The chemical affinity of the asphalt and aggregates, and therefore the performance of the mixture, can be improved by adding certain chemical additives. These additives are known as Anti-Stripping Agents or Adhesion Promoters and can improve the strength of the chemical bond between the aggregate and asphalt. This improved bond improves resistance to damage from moisture and can prevent premature failures of the pavement through failure mechanisms like rutting, raveling and potholes.
