The widespread use of recycled material in asphalt mixes offers significant economic, environmental, and sustainable benefits. In the US, the average RAP (Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement) content in asphalt mixes is around 20%. As the use of recycled material in new asphalt pavements increases, there is a growing emphasis on the performance of these mixes. Kao’s specially formulated Danox® RAP series of recycling agents effectively balance the economics of high recycled content with performance.
Danox® RAP series recycling agents can be added to the asphalt binder either at the hot-mix plant or at the asphalt terminal, seamlessly blending with the asphalt binder. These agents enhance the availability of the oxidized binder in the recycled material, allowing it to blend more effectively with the virgin asphalt. Even at low dosages, Danox® RAP series additives improve overall binder and mixture properties, preventing premature cracking at low and intermediate temperatures.
